rip exdetectives

ExDetectives was originally a band I started in 2007, disbanded in 2011, and a name I recorded under for two years after. The songs on Take My Forever were written to be played live by a four piece band. Farthest Star was made up of songs the band never got around to learning. I recorded both albums posthumously just to clear the decks, and a few random songs just because I had something new. Even though it was a mixture of songs as old as 2002 and new songs, it was always an old way of working. I started One Finger Riot in 2009 while ExDetectives was a band with other people in it, so it made sense to have another name, and a separate way of writing that produced a different sound. All the songs I write now are just me being me, and working however I want.

I've been making the third One Finger Riot record, and got to where I didn't know which songs should be used for which project. Faced with putting limits on new ideas to make form fit function, I'm ending the ExDetectives project, since there's no use in being redundant. The me of now just sounds like both put together.
